Kupferzeche (Copper mine)
More than 100 years ago, precious copper was mined in Hüttau for the last time. For some years now, the mine has been open to the public as the “Hüttau Copper Mine” exhibition mine. Here you can immerse yourself in a bygone working world and walk in the footsteps of mining in Hüttau. Together with the neighboring villages of St. Veit, Bischofshofen and Mühlbach am Hochkönig, Hüttau is one of the “Ore of the Alps” Geopark communities. Connected by the Copper Trail, interested visitors hike from place to place, from show mine to show mine, and learn all kinds of exciting facts from days long past. This valuable project was even awarded by UNESCO.
Museum
The Museum Hüttau offers a cross-section of the mineralogical specialties of the province of Salzburg, but also some foreign exhibits that should not be withheld from the visitor.
You will find the museum on the 3rd floor of the municipal building in the center of Hüttau.
